June marks the start of Pride month across many parts of the world. This is a time when we honor and celebrate the many contributions, achievements, and triumphs made by members of the LGBTQ+ community, while also raising awareness of ongoing issues impacting the community. MoFo has long been a proud supporter of LGBTQ+ rights, both inside and outside the courtroom, and we continually strive to provide a culture where colleagues feel they are respected, valued, and part of a community where everyone can bring their whole selves to work, openly and proudly.
On Monday, June 24, we are pleased to present a special event with MoFo of counsel Gerardo Gomez Galvis, who will moderate a discussion with Brandon Wolf, a survivor of the Pulse nightclub shooting and a dedicated advocate of LGBTQ+ rights, as our keynote speaker for Pride Month. Brandon will share his harrowing yet uplifting journey from tragedy to transformation. Brandon co-founded The Dru Project to empower LGBTQ+ youth and has become a leading voice in the fight against gun violence, partnering with notable organizations like March for Our Lives and Everytown. Currently serving as the National Press Secretary for the Human Rights Campaign, Brandon tells his story as not just one of survival, but also as a stirring call to action for community, resilience, and change.
Furthermore, we are thrilled to host events in our Asia and Europe offices, including in-person celebrations and webinars. You may sign up for MoFo News, Events, & Publications.
In honor of Pride Month and the LGBTQ+ community, The Morrison & Foerster Foundation will donate over $20,000 across a variety of nonprofits including:
While we celebrate Pride in June, it’s important to remember that LGBTQ+ inclusion should take place 365 days of the year and MoFo is proud to be a standard-bearer for LGBTQ+ equality in the legal profession. For more than 40 years, MoFo has advanced diversity and inclusion as a core value. In 2001, we elected the legal industry’s first openly gay chair and, in 2023, MoFo received a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index, marking the 20th year the firm has been named one of the best workplaces for LGBTQ+ equality.
