Christoph has more than 25 years of experience as an M&A and regulatory lawyer in the telecommunications, media, and technology industries. He focuses particularly on complex transactions and strategic regulatory advice to media and communications companies. Christoph has handled the acquisition of TV providers (ProSiebenSat.1, Sky Deutschland, N24, Das Vierte), large TV-rights packages (UEFA Champions League, Bundesliga, and film and TV-series packages), and cable network operators (Unitymedia, Tele Columbus, PrimaCom, pepcom). He also structured Joint Ventures in the TMT industry (“Visoon”, “netID”).

Christoph is an honorary professor at the University of Potsdam and lectures on European media law and digital platforms. He is a frequent speaker on media and communications issues, and has published numerous articles and monographies on digitization, anti-piracy, cable consolidation, and net neutrality, among other topics.

Christoph heads the firm’s Global Media Group.

He has been a notary with official residence in Berlin since 2000.

  • 1&1/United Internet on establishing the European netID Foundation together with ProSiebenSat.1 and RTL.
  • 2016 tender process for broadcasting rights for German football Bundesliga.
  • 21st Century Fox on the sale of its stake in Sky Deutschland and Sky Italia to BSkyB.
  • Viacom on the TV and video ad sales marketing joint venture “Visoon” with Axel Springer.
  • Axel Springer on the acquisition of N24, Germany’s largest independent TV news channel.
  • Representation in a number of large media and telecom transactions, including Haim Saban’s acquisition of ProsiebenSat.1; NewsCorp’s acquisition and re-financing of Premiere/Sky Deutschland; NewsCorp’s acquisition of the TV Stations Vox and Tm3 as well as the TV rights to the UEFA Champions League; further, STUDIOCANAL’s acquisition of Kinowelt and Tandem, the privatization of the Babelsberg Film Studios; NBCU’s disposition of TV channel “Das Vierte” and the subsequent sale to Disney.
  • Telefónica in the 3G/UMTS spectrum auction and the acquisition of a license; advice on several large cable transactions, including Tele Columbus’ acquisition of the competitors PrimaCom and pepcom, on the Vodafone/Liberty merger, and on the sale of Unitymedia.
