Kuang (Serena) Tan is a funds partner in Morrison & Foerster’s Hong Kong office. Ms. Tan has extensive experience in forming and investing in private investment funds (including offshore funds, RMB funds, and dual-currency funds). A native Mandarin speaker with significant international experience, she has represented many of the most prestigious sponsors that are active in this region and Asia institutional investors that invest globally.
Ms. Tan represents Asia-based and international sponsors in the formation of a variety of private investment funds, including buyout funds, growth funds, venture capital funds, real estate funds, fund-of-funds, separate accounts, and co-investment funds. She has advised international sponsors including Carlyle, TPG, and Morgan Stanley Private Equity Asia in forming their Asia- or China-focused funds and RMB funds. She has advised regional sponsors including Hony Capital, CDH Investments, Ally Bridge Group, and China Renaissance Capital Investment in forming their offshore funds, RMB funds, or dual-currency funds. Ms. Tan also advises sponsors on their carried interest plans and various operational matters.
Ms. Tan regularly represents institutional investors including Chinese insurance companies (China Ping An and China Life), Chinese banks (ABCI, CMB, and ICBCI), and Chinese asset management firms (Huarong Rongde and CINDA).
