John Smith spoke to Global Investigations Review for an article covering how the Whitford Worldwide Company appointed two independent compliance monitors after violating U.S. sanctions on Iran, allowing it to settle with the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) with a heavily discounted fine.
“We have not seen such a monitor in any type of cases apart from major banking cases where penalties were in the hundreds of millions of dollars and multiple U.S. agencies were involved,” John said.
