U.S. Reimposes Sanctions on Diamond Trader Gertler

JCK quoted John Smith in an article about U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) revoking a one-year license given to Israeli diamond trader Dan Gertler it issued only five weeks ago. The license had effectively nullified sanctions that were placed on Gertler three years earlier.

John said he was “astounded” by the action, adding: “It appears to be an abuse of the process.”
