Michael Schulman spoke to Bloomberg Law about Colorado’s new law aimed at mitigating artificial intelligence (AI) bias related to employment, allowing job applicants to challenge a company’s decision not to hire them if based off of AI. Michael spoke to the differences between New York City’s similar law and Colorado’s more robust version.
Michael said the New York City law is enforced through complaints to the city’s consumer and worker protection office, and the Colorado law’s impact is similarly softened by granting the State Attorney General’s office sole enforcement authority.
“Perhaps regulators won’t throw the book at somebody who’s doing what they can do,” he stated.
