Following a summer session addressing concerns among regulated companies and regulators, given the short amount of time allowed to gather and report the data required and several perceived ambiguities in the laws, California legislature declined to amend or clarify disclosure requirements for AB 1305, SB 253, and SB 261 on August 31, 2024 due to a lack of broad support from the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and the governor’s office.

As of April and May 2024, EU and non-EU companies that operate in the EU will not only be required to identify and address adverse human rights and certain adverse environmental impacts in their supply chain, but they will also be prohibited from dealing with products on the EU market that are made with forced labor.
